New Year comes at a time when we are rarely feeling our best. Having eaten, drunk and over socialised our way through December, we’re rarely feeling our most inspired on the 1st January- we’re usually hungover, piling into a Deliveroo and wondering if ‘dry January’ is a good idea after all.
By the time Spring comes, we’ve got back into our usual routine. Spring brings with it the promise of longer days, better weather (fingers crossed) and an opportunity to Spring clean all elements of your life. As a time of birth (or rebirth), it’s the perfect time to hit reset, refresh and realign with those goals and harness the fresh energy moving forward.
Here’s why Spring is the new ‘New Year’ and why you should embrace it this March…!
New Year marks the ending of the year, which is why traditionally it’s been seen as a great time to wave goodbye to things from the year previous you’d rather forget (ex-boyfriends, bad sale purchases and major life decisions included). However, it isn’t the only time of the year and it may not even be the best. Traditionally, winter is a time for hibernation- a time to unplug, rest and recover. Spring is a time of reawakening and growth. This makes it the perfect opportunity to harness this energy by letting go of that which is no longer serving you and opening up to allow in the things you’d like to bring into your life.
If you’d committed to working out more in 2020, you’d be forgiven for struggling with those dark, cold mornings. Spring brings with it the promise of brighter mornings and better weather, making it that much easier to roll out of bed. It’s not just working out- maybe it’s a commitment to writing that blog, meditating or reading the book that’s been stuck on your bedside table. Whatever it is, make the most of your morning as it will set the tone for the rest of your day. Still struggling to get up? I’ve got you with ‘How to Become a Morning Person’.
With roughly 3 months passed since you decided on what you wanted for the year, this is a great time to celebrate the progress you’ve made! If you haven’t made the progress you hoped for, don’t despair. Spring is a great opportunity to question why you haven’t managed to crack on with those goals. I’ve created the ‘5 Questions to Ask Yourself this Spring’ so you can reassess what it is you want for the year and get back on track with your goals and progress.
