Some of the most common questions I get asked are around how I became a coach & who I studied with…so I thought I would share ALL in this blog post and also give you the opportunity to embark on your own coaching journey through the school I studied with.

 

 

Why I Became A Health Coach

 

 Until 2017, I had followed the ‘rules of life’- becoming outwardly successful in a well-paid corporate job in the city. But, whilst my life looked great on the outside, on the inside I felt empty. I felt that there must be more to life than this. The cycle of Monday morning dread felt too much and I knew I needed to make a change.

After being signed off with stress, I realised I wanted to live a more holistic, embodied life, doing meaningful work I enjoyed that made a difference in people’s lives. I decided to start a health food business, creating delicious products with whole food ingredients that I could share with others. The business went from strength to strength, going from my kitchen counter to being stocked in Whole Foods, Selfridges, Ocado, Holland and Barrett and Planet Organic. Changing my diet personally led to a recovery from depression and increased vitality. I wanted to share this with others so I decided alongside running my business I would study at IIN to increase my knowledge around how food creates an impact on our lives. I had also realised that all the major coaches I admired and respected had studied there, so it seemed like a good stepping stone towards making coaching part of my offering.

The program changed my life and led me to doing what I do today.

 

 

As I began to study with IIN I quickly realized that this was my true calling. Through IIN, I not only learnt over 100 dietary theories, but I learnt the importance of primary food- such as healthy relationships, movement, having a job you love and spiritual practices that would create TRUE satisfaction in my life. It was the piece I had been missing.

Now I wake up every morning excited to begin work- honestly, I feel such a huge sense of gratitude that I call this a ‘job.’ I now help other women reconnect with their purpose and make the life of their dreams a reality. I have run workshops around the world, helped hundreds of women, and earnt 4x my ‘amazing’ previous corporate salary.

• I wanted to move away from my unfulfilling corporate role and create a business that was location free (I’m currently writing this from a beach in Mexico!).

What I loved about IIN:

 

• IIN explored so many different opinions, studies, and theories without ever ‘forcing’ one particular one as the ‘right way.’ This encouraged independent thought and respected the individual.

• Within a year I was able to start coaching and create a successful coaching business.

• IIN helped me learn more about different ways of eating and how these may impact different people. This led to shifts in my own diet and health.

• IIN provided ACTUAL coaching experience- I got to practice discovery calls and coaching before I started coaching ‘for real’. This was invaluable and helped me not only build skills but also confidence.

• The lecturers at IIN were NEXT LEVEL. Honestly- from Gabby Bernstein and Deepak Chopra to Mark Hyman, I was blown away. They were fascinating! It hardly felt like studying.

• I loved that IIN taught such a varied syllabus. Learning so much about primary food led to me shifting my focus to primary food within my coaching.

• IIN is designed for busy people. I also loved the flexibility it provided in being online. On busy work weeks I knew I could always catch up the weekend after which made the process more enjoyable. You can learn anytime, anywhere!

• In a fairly unregulated industry, I loved that IIN was accredited by Universities (it’s 40 college credits).

• IIN taught me how to lead 1-2-1 sessions as well as group programs. It also taught me key coaching skills as part of this such as active listening.

• I found IIN to be the best combination of price, structure, and content. This was the BEST course I found out there and the most comprehensive.

• I loved that IIN allows you to begin coaching 6 months into the program. This gave you the opportunity to earn back your tuition as you studied. I earnt my tuition back within 4 months of starting coaching.

Why I do not technically practice as a Health Coach

 

It was thanks to the incredibly varied course at IIN, focusing both on Nutrition theories and primary food that I was able to uncover my passion and my niche. I would not have been able to uncover this without the exploration that IIN provided. The core skills and knowledge it provided me are still a huge part of my coaching practice today as an Empowerment Coach.
