As soon as the sun comes out, so does my desire for a glass of pale rose and a rooftop bar. And luckily the Rooftop Restaurant Selfridges on Oxford Street ticks both boxes.
The rooftop of Selfridges is home to seasonal pop ups (last winter it boasted furs and pines, in a Scandi style forest set up), and their summer offering is the Californian inspired Roof Deck restaurant and bar. Even if you don’t manage to catch the sun shining, the menu makes up for it, with flame grilled offerings and fresh summery flavours, such as bashed guacamole and tuna ceviche.
But first things first… Frose*.
(* that’s Frozen Rose & you need it in your life)
Having slurped that down it was time to order…
We went for the Coal Grilled Burger, in a butter bun with mango and chipotle salsa and the Prawns a la plancha with blistered corn and pomegranate (a la plancha just means grilled, if you’re anything like me and had to google it… ). Because Kaia at The Ned has given me an unhealthy addiction with sweetcorn, we got a side of the Corn on the Cob with lime and paprika butter ….and Chips- of course.
The prawns were a highlight- tasting fresh off the grill they reminded me holidays, going perfectly with the corn salsa and a squeeze of lime.
Post dinner slump underway, we sipped another cocktail as the sun went down…
California it may not be, but the Roof Deck is the perfect place for a girly catch up, a Frose, and a taste of summer… even if the sun is refusing to play.
The Roof Deck is now open for summer… For more information on dining at Selfridges, visit their website: http://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/content/london-restaurant-guide
