Kensington Palace

Having watched The Princess Dairies and Anastasia far too many times as a child, my excitement in going to Kensington Palace was in part down to a belief that at last, my true Princess future had been realized. My disappointment at this not being the case was quickly quelled when I considered all the ridiculous things I had done drunk…I would be the Daily Mail online’s dream…

We had been invited to a girls afternoon tea and visit to the Palace. I’d never been to the Palace before… plus there was going to be Champagne and Cake- what a combo.

We went to The Orangery Kensington Palace for Afternoon Tea. It was beautifully set out and the cups and plates were so pretty, that it really did feel like a Royal afternoon tea.

Full of finger sandwiches, scones and cake we headed over to the Palace to start to have a look around. I’m a secret history geek and found it fascinating- inspections of bed sheets to ensure marriages had been consummated and having multiple witnesses to childbirth to ensure it was a legitimate heir… who said being Royal was glamorous?!

We were also lucky enough to visit the exhibition showing the dresses of Princess Diana, Princess Margaret and the Queen.

A proper princess dress

After an afternoon eating like a Queen and exploring the Palace, I decided that while it may appear glamorous, there was a lot to being a Royal in the past. That said, it was a wonderful afternoon exploring, and with ‘Diana: Her Fashion Story’ opening in February 2017, I will certainly be back.
